While photographing rocks and trees covered in beautiful moss and blue-green lichens in a Northern Wisconsin wood, I looked up to see a red fox standing in a clearing. He bolted away as soon as he saw us, but the contrasting colors of the fox against the woods inspired me to paint this resting fox nestled beneath the pines.
